Ancient skeletons discovered in Chongqing

The archaeological work group of Jilin University was clearing up some
skeletons lately discovered at the ruins of Quren County Seat, which
dated back to the Han Dynasty (BC206-AD220), in Chongqing's Yunyang
County on March 21. In recent days, archeologists have discovered several
pits of skeletons at the ruins of the old county seat of Yunyang County,
an A-class excavation project in the Three Gorges reservoir area, and
unearthed 20-odd comparatively intact skeletons of the Han Dynasty. Since
these skeletons were not buried in tombs, archaeologists reassessed the
strategic status of this old county seat which had been of considerable
scale in the Han and Jin (AD265-420) dynasties. Their preliminary
estimate shows that these new discoveries are material evidence of fierce
wars in the Qinling-Daba Mountains.
