Contemporary "Pan Yuliang"
www.chinanews.cn 2005-08-12 15:39:28
Eight paintings about famous anti-Japanese invasion generals including
the "Old General Zhang Zhen Departs for Battle", which were painted by a
well-known female Shanghai painter named Kang Jinmei, will be on display
at the picture show to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory of
the Anti-Japanese War in Beijing Military Museum on August 15.
46-year-old Kang was born in a farmer's family. In 1985, she became the
last disciple of renowned art master Liu Haisu and was reputed as
contemporary Pan Yuliang (a famous female painter, 1899-1977). In 1997,
Kang's oil painting "Golden Dusk" was sold for 500,000 yuan at an
international auction, the highest among oil paintings created by female
Chinese painters.
