40th anniversary of completion of Hung-ch'i Canal

Visitors look at a picture at an exhibition featuring "Spirit of
Hung-ch'i Canal" opened in Suzhou on Aug. 16, 2005. The exhibition was
held to mark the 40th anniversary of the completion of Hung-ch'i Canal
water project. Hung-ch'i Canal which means Red Flag Canal in English is
irrigation system in northern Honan and in Shansi provinces, constructed
in 1960�C69 to relieve chronic shortage of water in Lin-hsien in the
foothills of the T'ai-hang Shan (mountains) west of An-yang.
