First Buddhist opera to be staged in Sept.

It was announced on Aug. 17 at the press conference of "2005 First
International Buddhist Culture Festival in Ningxiang China" that the
Buddhist fanbai chant opera named "Buddhists from all over the world
gather in Ningxiang," China's first Buddhism musical starred by actors
and actresses from Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan will be staged in the
thousand-year ancient temple, Miyin Temple on Wei Mountain, Ningxiang,
Hunan. Pictured: Xu Shaohua who acted Sanzang in the TV series "Journey
to the West" participated in the press conference and will play an
important role in the musical.
