Nanjing Third Yangtze River Bridge has entered the last stage of
construction and will be open to traffic before the 10th National Games.
The bridge is China's first steel-tower cable-stayed bridge and also the
first gradient-pulling steel-tower cable-stayed bridge in the world. Its
full length is about 15.6 kilometers, including 4,744 meters over the
Yangtze River, and its main bridge covers a span of 648 meters. As a
vital component of Shanghai-Chengdu artery, the bridge will enable people
to drive between the two cities without stop.
