Huimin Hospital, the first Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) of
Liaoning's Shenyang located in the city's Heping District, formally began
operation on Feb. 28. In order to solve the difficulties and high
expenses of medical services and medicines for the public, Shenyang
invested 36 million yuan (US$4.44m) to rebuild Heping District's People's
Hospital into a DSH, whose most prominent characteristic is low prices.
The hospital's medicine price level is 10% lower than before, and its
costs of examinations and hospitalization fall 50%.
