Xiushui Market closely monitored for govt IPR protection

Chinanews, Beijing, Apr. 20 C The Beijing Municipal Public Security
Bureau said on Wednesday that there remained a lot to do in Beijing in
its intellectual property right (IPR) protection. In the near future,
some famous markets in the city, such as the Xiushui Street, the Hongqiao
and the Beijing Zoo market fairs would be closely monitored by local
police.
An official from the Economic Cases Investigation Department of the
Beijing Public Security Bureau said at present, infringement of IPR was
very serious in some parts of the city, and IPR violations had become
more deceptive and well-organized than before. Many fake products are
sold in clothing, bags, leather goods, and golf equipment, seriously
infringing the interests of patent owners and consumers, and hindering
international economic and cultural exchanges. The infringement cases
occur most often in some big markets such as the Xiushui Street, Yaoxiu,
and Hongqiao markets, where both Chinese and foreigners frequently visit.
The official said that in future, Beijing police would join hands with
regulatory authorities from the industrial and commercial sector, quality
inspection sector, customs offices, procuratorates and courts, so as to
crack down on IPR violations with joint efforts. The Beijing police would
closely monitor some major places and shatter fake products in every
chain they involve, including manufacturing, production, storage and
delivery, and sales network.
