China not dumping leather shoes on Europe
www.chinanews.cn 2006-03-14 14:02:34
Chinanews, Mar. 14 - China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) recently
announced that China's leather shoes export to Europe shows no evidence
of dumping practices.
MOFCOM senior official Wang Shichun said that the preliminary
determination on antidumping against China-made leather shoes initiated
by the EU on Feb. 23rd is devoid of substantial evidence and legal
ground. Exported China-made leather shoes were not dumped on Europe.
Fritz-Harald Wenig, head of the EU Trade Defense Directorate, arrived in
Beijing on Mar. 10th to negotiate with the Chinese party about the
"dumping" of China-made shoes. It was learned on Mar. 12th that Wenig and
other officials headed for Zhejiang's Hangzhou, where most of the
enterprises involved in EU antidumping cases are clustered, to
communicate with local enterprises and associations. Afterwards they
commenced official negotiation about the "dumping" of China-made shoes
with MOFCOM officials.
Prior to this, the EU had decided to postpone a vote on whether to impose
sanctions against leather shoes exported from China and Vietnam for one
week.
