China's Cape of Hope renamed
www.chinanews.cn 2005-08-04 16:47:47
The sculpture of Emperor Kangxi with officials who are looking at a stone
tablet at the east-most end of Chengshantou Scenic Spot in Shandong's
Rongcheng. Chengshantou is located at the east-most end of Chengshan
Mountain in Shandong's Rongcheng, opposite to South Korea across the sea.
It is cited as the place where the sun rises, and also China's Cape of
Hope.
The stone tablet with three Chinese characters "Tian Jin Tou" (end of
heavens) has been replaced by a towering stone peak with four Chinese
characters "Tian Wu Jin Tou" (heavens have no ends). It is learned that
these four characters were written by Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty
(1616-1911).
