China to build first national golf team
www.chinanews.cn 2006-03-03 15:36:51
Chinanews, Mar. 3 - In an effort to improve China's level of golf and
make preparations for Doha Asian Games this year, the small ball sports
administrative center under the General Administration of Sport decided
to build China's first national golf team in the near future through
collective training and selective trials.
The spring seasonal collective training and tryout have opened at the
Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen at present. This collective training
is the first large-scale national training of golf sports in China.
"China's golf level is not even presentable in Asia currently, and this
situation requires prompt changes. Establishing the national team means
taking advantage of the country's system to undertake scientific and
systematic collective training, find out a new route adapted to Chinese
characteristics, and lift the level," indicated Zhang Xiaoning, an
official of the small ball sports administrative center.
China Golf Association will regard enhancing the national golf team's
level as an important mission in 2006 and in the future, and strive to
make breakthroughs on the Asian Games to be held in Qatar this December.
