Chinanews, Mar. 21 C A Super League soccer match was held Sunday at the
Fengtai Stadium when security standard used in the 2008 Olympic Games was
first applied in the match.
Some 1,200 security guards stationed on the field and there were civil
policemen standing on every platform in the stadium, holding a video
camera in hand to record down any misbehavior from "suspected soccer
hooligans".
A policeman on duty told reporters that he was just started to learn how
to use the video camera and so far, he had not recorded any wrongdoings
from suspected soccer hooligans.
In case there is any misbehavior in the stadium, the recordings will be
used to help police to panelize soccer hooligans. More camera eyes will
be installed at major roads near the stadium.
The security scheme for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games are graded into
four levels, A, B, C, and D, and each grade is divided into three
sub-levels with different numbers of police force, volunteers and
security guards being allocated. The Sunday match security scheme applied
grade A level in sub-level one, where policemen dressed in plain clothes
and uniforms were allocated to the stadium to keep the match order
together with 1,200 security guards. Although Sunday's match went on
smoothly, people from the Beijing municipal public security bureau were
not satisfied with the match order, saying that improvement should be
made in later matches, "Many soccer fans still boo at guest team and
shout out offensive words", they said.
