Large-scale expedition across Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
www.chinanews.cn 2005-07-14 15:24:18
The undated photo shows Tibetan antelopes run on the mountain covered
with snow in Hoh Xil uninhabited region in central Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
The first ever large-scale scientific expedition across Hoh Xil
uninhabited region in central Qinghai-Tibet Plateau will kick off in
Sept. this year and will last three years. Alpine coldness, lack of
oxygen, and hostile natural conditions make Hoh Xil China's largest and
the world's third largest uninhabited region. It is also China's last
untouched natural land which still maintains its original state. It is
therefore cited as a "forbidden zone for man."
